Red Rover

Over the past two and a half weeks I've been working on two paintings. One was a failed attempt which I'll go back to and the other is "Red Rover", the picture you see in this post. It was more difficult than anticipated getting this finished due to illiness in the household. One of us had something or other to tend to which stiffled creative outlets.

Well, if you've ever built a house, are building a house, or have dreamed of building a house of your own, you'll know how challenging it is to let your dreams become reality. "Red Rover" is about the challenges we face when we want to create something different in our homes. Once hurdled over the financial aspects of your dream, the new development regulations pull you back into the mainstream of residential living. A good example of this is demonstrated in the documentary called "Garbage Warrior". This architect dreamed of green design and green living but due to confines of building regulations, faced the penalty of losing his architectural liscense. It's as if you run as fast as you can to get through the line of clenched hands but they are gripped tighter than the strength you have to get through.

Anyway, I hope you like this one....
